Pro Bowl linebacker Von Miller of the Denver Broncos has been suspended for six games for violating the NFL’s drug-testing program.
According to ESPN, Miller took advantage of a “star struck” urine collector who agreed to submit another person’s urine specimen for Miller in an attempt to cover up his use of recreational drugs. Miller, who was also suspended during his rookie season in 2011 for using marijuana and amphetamines has to make a ‘tough’ decision— football or drugs?
The NFL and NFLPA also conducted a joint investigation to review whether Miller was not attempting to cover up any PED or steroids-policy violation. Therefore, his suspension was determined to be a repeat violation of the league’s substance-abuse policy.
“It might have worked, sources said, had a second collector not discovered that Miller was not in the city where his collection was supposed to have taken place”.
Miller’s actions have given the NFL a black-eye and leaves questions to be answered in whether swapping urine is a regular occurrence among players.
What’s your opinion? What impact will Miller’s latest failed drug test have on his career?
